Semax

What is Semax?

Semax is a synthetic peptide developed in Russia, derived from a fragment of ACTH (adrenocorticotropic hormone) with an added stabilizing sequence. It's primarily known for its nootropic (cognitive-enhancing) and neuroprotective properties. Semax works through multiple mechanisms, including enhancing brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) expression, which promotes neuronal growth and protection; improving selective attention by modulating neurotransmitters, particularly dopamine; and providing neuroprotection against oxidative stress and cerebral ischemia. It's been shown to enhance learning and memory, increase attention and focus, accelerate processing speed, and protect neurons from damage. Unlike many cognitive enhancers, Semax doesn't cause overstimulation or addiction, and it doesn't significantly affect heart rate or blood pressure. In Russia, it's an approved medication for stroke treatment, cognitive enhancement, and immune modulation. Semax is frequently compared to Noopept but offers a broader range of effects and potentially greater neuroprotection with fewer side effects.
