Short answer: Khavinson bioregulators are short peptides associated with Professor Vladimir Khavinson's St. Petersburg research program, each linked to one organ or tissue. They come in two main types: natural tissue extracts (Cytomax-style capsules) and synthetic short peptides (Cytogens such as Epitalon or Pinealon). A sensible beginner approach is one or two natural bioregulators, chosen by goal, taken as a one-month course from the label, then a break. Expect modest, uncertain effects: no consumer capsule has controlled human trials.

The 60-second background

  • The program began in the Soviet era. Its best-known human studies used injectable extracts such as Thymalin (thymus) and Epithalamin (pineal) in elderly people (PMID 14523363).
  • The group's reviews describe short peptides as signals that influence gene expression in their target tissue (PMID 19830585; PMID 34834147). Most of that work comes from the originating group and has had little independent replication.
  • Today the consumer market is mostly oral capsules, which were not what the classic cohorts tested.

A conservative beginner protocol

Step 1: Pick one goal. Bioregulators are organ-specific. "Everything at once" is not a beginner plan.

GoalOne-product start (Vita Peptides)What the label says
Immune and stress resilienceVita DefenderThymus + adrenal + pituitary, 45 mg per capsule
Digestive comfortVita DetoxLiver, kidney, bile, stomach, gastric mucin
Joints and connective tissueCartesyl"Helps maintain normal cartilage structure"

Step 2: Follow the label.

  • Single products: 2 capsules, 1-2 times daily. Suggested daily serving 2 capsules (30 mg). One month is a full course. A 60-capsule bottle covers one month at 2 capsules a day.
  • Complexes: 1-2 capsules, 1-2 times daily, one-month course. A 30-capsule bottle covers a month at 1 capsule a day.

Step 3: Track simply. Write down two or three things you care about (energy, digestion, joint comfort) before, mid-course, and after. Do not change five other things at once.

Step 4: Break, then decide. Stop after the course. Vita-Stream's FAQ describes repeating courses periodically, commonly 2-3 times a year. Only repeat if you noticed something worth repeating. See How to Cycle Bioregulators.

What a beginner should not do

  • Do not buy a bioregulator expecting a drug effect, or to treat a medical condition.
  • Do not stack five products on day one.
  • Do not use thyroid, testes, ovary or adrenal products without checking with a clinician if you take hormone or thyroid medication.
  • Do not use any of them if pregnant or breastfeeding (a label contraindication).

FAQ

What is the best Khavinson bioregulator to start with?

Pick by goal. For general resilience, a thymus-based product such as Vita Defender or Thymusol is the most common first choice.

How long before I notice anything?

There is no reliable human data on timing. Courses are typically one month.

Can I take bioregulators every day forever?

They are designed as courses with breaks, not continuous use.

Are bioregulators safe?

Short-term use appears well tolerated in reports, but there are no large modern safety studies for the capsules. Check with a clinician, especially with medications or a health condition.

What animal are natural bioregulators made from?

Vita-Stream's product pages do not state it per product; a generic site FAQ mentions young calves. Ask the retailer if this matters to you.
